Sri. Mahatma Gandhi

Also known as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (also called as Bapu, in Gujarati business community used as Papa as father) (born on 2nd October 1869 and left the body on 30th January 1948), was a preeminent leader of Indian nationalism in British ruled India.

In South Africa in the year 1914 the great honorific “Mahatma” was applied, later it was used worldwide and very popular, as a matter of fact, without the word Mahatma we never to say, Gandhi, all most all Indians pronounced him as Mahatma Gandhi only. Mahatma was almost stood as his surname.

He was completed his barrister degree in London and Mahatma Gandhi first employed non-violent civil disobedience as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa, in the local resident Indian community's struggle for civil rights.

When he came back to India in the year 1915 he first organized peasants, farmers, and urban laborers to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination. Assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhi led nationwide campaigns for easing poverty, expanding women's rights, building religious and ethnic amity, ending untouchability, but above all for achieving Swaraj or self-rule to nation India.

Gandhiji well organized 400 Kms Dandi March (Dandi Salt Protest) and famously led all Indians in challenging the British-imposed rule as salt tax and later calls Britishers to Quit India in the year 1942. Upon many occasions in India and South Africa, he was imprisoned for many years.

Gandhi attempted to practice non-violence and truth in all situations and advocated that others do the same. He lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community and wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven with yarn hand-spun on a charkha.

Generally he used to take only vegetarian food, and also undertook long fasts as means of both self-purification and social protest, eventually with the developments the British Government has granted Independence to India.

This credit goes to Mahatma Gandhi. With his sincere and dedicated attempts, the great empire was bent its head before his non-violence approach of releasing India from its clutches.

Now Gandhi's system of non-violence is a great weapon to many politicians and they are practicing the same at their respective lands to gain something to the public from their rulers.

United States of America President also many times pronounced Gandhi non-violence system as one of the best and safe practicing to get demands to realise.

Sri. Potti Sreeramulu :

Potti Sreeramulu (born on 16 March 1901 and left body on 16 December 1952), he is a great Indian revolutionary. He is a devout follower of Mahatma Gandhi, entire his life is worked for much of his life for humanitarian causes, including support for the "Dalit” community.

Once Mahatma Gandhi commenting on Sreeramulu's dedication and fasting ability and said "If only I have eleven more followers like Sriramulu I will win freedom from British rule. It’s a clear picture of the system which followed by Sri Potti Sreeramulu a safe and secure way of getting demands realized.

Potti Sreeramulu is revered as “Amarajeevi” ("Immortal being") in the Andhra region for his self-sacrifice for the Andhra cause. He became famous for undertaking a hunger strike in support of the formation of an Indian state for the Telugu-speaking population of Madras Presidency, in this process he left his body this causes sparked public rioting and later Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru declared the intent to form Andhra Pradesh State three days following.
